OAK GROVE, Ky. – Bystanders who helped save lives during Friday's fatal wreck on I-24 at the Tennessee-Kentucky state line spoke out on Saturday about what they saw.

Kentucky State Police reports said a driver crossed over the median and crashed into a U-Haul truck and an SUV behind it Friday morning.

The crash killed three people and left several others in the hospital.

Several people passing by on the interstate saw what happened, including Steve Nash, who immediately pulled over to help those he could with first aid, and supported emergency workers once they arrived.

"They pulled her out using the jaws of life and they pulled off the front door and second door trying to get her out but her leg was really mangled and there really was no way to do it," said Nash.

The Kentucky State Police and Christian County Sheriff's Department are just two of the agencies still trying to figure out why the driver of the first car crossed over the median to cause the crash.
