NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Metro School leaders are getting ready to meet with neighbors of Haynes Middle School who may be getting a few new students walking through its halls beginning next year.

Metro wants students from Joelton Middle school to take classes at Haynes for one year while Joelton undergoes renovations, and school leaders want to clear up confusion about what the move really means.

They're holding a meeting at Haynes Middle School Monday at 5 p.m. to explain what's going to happen.

Metro School leaders say the schools will not be merged; instead they'll just be two separate schools with different class times and athletic programs.

"They'll be in a separate part of the building," said Sharon Gentry, a member of the Metro Nashville Board of Education.  "They'll have their own respective leadership, principles, faculty and things of that nature."

While the two schools will remain separate, school leaders say students will have to share some common areas like the cafeteria and the gym.
