MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – A man has been arrested for the stabbing and robbery of a cab driver in Murfreesboro early Monday morning.

Police said the cab driver had initially picked up the man in front of the Murfreesboro Motel around 1 a.m., and then drove him to the Blackman community. Once they got there, the suspect, later identified as Ryan Yount, pulled out a knife, held it to the driver's neck, forced him to drive to a neighborhood off West Northfield Boulevard behind the Murfreesboro Motel before heading to a pizza place on E. Northfield Boulevard.

When they got to the location, the driver told police that Yount said "I'm sorry. I have a daughter to support," demanded money, and then stabbed him in the neck. The driver then received a call from his boss, and told police Yount made him answer it and tell him he "was still in the Blackman area," according to a police report. He hung up, and said Yount stabbed him again in the neck.

Yount stole approximately $86 and fled the scene.

The driver, identified as 24-year-old Nicholas Jackson Kennedy, was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police along with K-9s were able to track Yount to a nearby trailer park, where he was arrested. Yount was charged with especially aggravated robbery and attempted murder.
