NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A Metro Nashville police officer was decommissioned after being charged with Driving Under the Influence stemming from a single-car crash.

Officials said 33-year-old Officer Craig Reese was off duty when his 2009 Nissan Altima struck a utility pole on Madison Creek Road in Sumner County at 8:40p.m. Friday.

Reese was the only person in the car when the crash happened. He was injured and taken by ambulance to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He was released Sunday afternoon.

Goodlettsville Police investigated the crash and said Reese, who reportedly smelled of alcohol, refused to submit a breath and blood alcohol test.

Police also said he was carrying one gun and had three others in his vehicle.

Weapon and implied consent charges were also filed against Reese in Sumner County.

Reese was a seven-year veteran of the Metro Police Department.
