Metro Nashville Paving Season Set To Begin

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Metro Public Works crews will be hard at work on the first day of paving season downtown Thursday morning.

Their focus this year will be on roads around the new Music City Center set to open next month.

Metro government said it will be pouring $25 million into paving this year. That's about $15 million more than it usually does.

Public Works said they've put off paving in the downtown area for a while, and now it will coincide with the convention center opening.

Officials said that work begins Thursday and should be finished for drivers in the next month or two.

"I don't think they'll experience anything, they should be able to get around fine," said Mark Macy with Metro Nashville's Public Works department.  "We're not closing streets, just closing lanes, doing one lane at a time."

If you spot a pothole or paving problem you'd like Metro to take a look at, you can send them a message by following this link to their web site.
