NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A Nashville man has been convicted of the murder of his longtime friend during a robbery attempt in 2009.

On Wednesday, a jury found Angel Manuel Rivera guilty of felony murder, attempted especially aggravated robbery, and three counts of aggravated assault

Police said Rivera shot and killed 23-year-old James Wade during a robbery inside his home on Hermitage Ridge on July 9, 2009.

Police said Rivera and two identified men showed up at the home, and rushed inside after asking for Wade. Rivera held Wade and three friends at gunpoint while the other two men rummaged through the home. While the men rummaged through the home, Wade confronted Rivera, who opened fire.

Wade was taken to the hospital where he died.

The felony murder conviction carries a life sentence of at least 51 years in prison. Rivera will be sentenced at a later date on the additional charges.

Police said Rivera's two accomplices have not been identified.
