Friends and Family Honor Life Of Lebanon Coach Killed In Crash

Posted: Updated:

LEBANON, Tenn. - Funeral services were held Thursday evening for Randy Vanatta. The former Lebanon High School coach was killed in a car accident last weekend.

Vanatta spent more than three decades at the school, and was even a student at Lebanon High back in the 1970's.

Vanatta was a P.E. teacher and coached golf and basketball. He won numerous championships during his tenure.

"He was a man of God and he loved his Lord and Savior and he met people's needs, and that's what makes people special," said friend Terry Stephens.

As for the crash, investigators said Coach Vanatta pulled out into oncoming traffic and was hit on Woodside Drive Saturday night. They say the driver of the other car, who was a student at Lebanon High School, may have been speeding.
