Tracking Device Leads To Stolen Vehicle; Drugs Found Inside

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Police said a tracking device led them to a stolen vehicle, and the arrest of the driver on several drug charges.

Police said the dealership where the Ford Edge was stolen from had a GPS inside the vehicle, and they tracked it down to 3rd Avenue and Garfield Street. They found Jimmy Nelson walking up to it with keys in hand.

Police then discovered a plastic bag with five hydrocodone pills, cocaine wrapped in a brown paper bag, and a glass crack pipe inside the vehicle.

An affidavit said Nelson told them he knew the car was stolen, and had traded it for crack cocaine.

Nelson was charged with theft. Nelson was also charged with driving on a revoked license after he handed police only an identification card.
