MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The world's largest online retailer gave the public a peek inside its brand new Murfreesboro facility on Friday. Amazon allowed NewsChannel 5's cameras into its one million square foot fulfillment center. It has enough space to contain 25 football fields.

The center features more than four miles of conveyor belts for the tens of thousands of items that come in and go out every single day. The center brought about some serious controversy, and triggered a debate about online sales tax.

Governor Haslam was able to strike a deal with Amazon to collect sales tax and keep the company from moving somewhere else. The company brought in more than 1,100 jobs to Rutherford County.

"It was a great opportunity," said Amazon Associate Mike Moore. "I knew the company was a growing one and I knew I'd have a shot here of improving myself and being a valuable employee here."

The company opened the center back in September with only 400 employees, and that grew to the 1,100 it has now.

The Murfreesboro facility isn't the only fulfillment center. There are others in three other counties in Tennessee, and the company is slated to open one in Lebanon this fall.
