Suspect In Deadly Shooting Turns Himself In To Police

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - A man police identified as a suspect in a deadly weekend shooting in Clarksville has turned himself in to authorities.

A criminal homicide warrant was issued over the weekend for 33-year-old Carl Allen Whiteside, Junior in the death of 32-year-old Patrice Smith. Whiteside surrendered himself to police in Stockton, California around 8:00 p.m. Monday night. 

The shooting happened just before 3:30 a.m. Sunday at a housing complex on Lincoln Drive. Officers arrived on the scene to find Smith had been shot.

Smith was transported from the scene to Gateway Hospital where she was pronounced dead just after 4 a.m.

Investigators said Whiteside and Smith were acquaintances. He is now awaiting extradition to Clarksville.
