Parolee Charged With Shooting Teenager During Fight

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Police have charged a parolee in connection with the shooting of a teenager during a dispute.

Ryan Stevenson, 22, was charged with attempted criminal homicide in the shooting of 15-year-old Peleg Isma. Police said the shooting that happened around 10:30 p.m. Sunday on Maudina Avenue stemmed from a fight earlier in the day.

Police said Isma was with a friend who got into a fight with a man named Willie Smith as a result of an ongoing dispute between the pair. Isma and others, including Stevenson, got involved in the fight, but had dispersed by the time police arrived.

Later, Isma and two friends were walking in the parking lot of the apartments in the 5800 block of Maudina Avenue when Stevenson came out from behind the tree with a gun in his hand.

Isma and his friends tried to run, but police said Stevenson opened fire. Isma was struck in the back by a bullet, and was taken to Vanderbilt Children's Hospital for treatment. He was expected to survive.

Isma's two friends were able to identify Stevenson as the shooter.

Stevenson was held on $750,000 bond.
