Dogs Alert Family To Fire At La Vergne Home

Posted: Updated:

LA VERGNE, Tenn. – A family has their dogs to thank for alerting them to a house fire early Monday morning in La Vergne.

The family of three was sleeping inside their home on Fergus Road when their dogs started barking. They went downstairs, and found flames in the kitchen.

All three people and the dogs were able to escape safely.

Fire officials said they believe the fire started in the kitchen, and spread to the attic. The home suffered some moderate structural damage, but was not destroyed. It's believed an electrical problem started the fire.

The family stayed with relatives overnight.
