Man Dies After Being Shot In Head In Gallatin

Posted: Updated:

GALLATIN, Tenn. – A man who was shot in the head Monday night in Gallatin has passed away.

Police found 23-year-old Rameon Wilson with a gunshot wound to the head outside of an apartment building at the Greenwood Apartments on Green Wave Drive around 8:30 p.m. Wilson was taken by LifeFlight to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he passed away Tuesday morning.

Witnesses described the shooter as a black male approximately 5'6' and heavyset, wearing black shorts and a dark green t-shirt. The suspect fled on foot.

Police said this is the first homicide in Gallatin since August 2010.

A second shooting happened around 11:30 p.m. on Blythe Street. The victim, 26-year-old Chris Hudson, was shot multiple times while riding his bike. He was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said he identified his shooter as 31-year-old Ronnie Wharton, of Pace Street, who should be considered armed and dangerous. He is wanted on attempted murder charges.

Later, police were also called to another shooting on Blythe Street, but did not find a shooting scene or a victim. They are looking for a white vehicle involved in that incident.

Police said all three shootings are believed to be gang-related; however, the Greenwood Apartment shooting is not related to the shootings on Blythe Street.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Gallatin Police Department at (615) 452-1313.
