17-Year-Old Murder Suspect Still Wanted; Citizen Offers Reward

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A concerned citizen has posted a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest of a 17-year-old wanted in the murder of another teen last week in north Nashville.

The citizen, who wished to remain anonymous, wanted to assist the police department in finding Eric L. Goodner, who is wanted on a Juvenile Court petition and arrest order charging him with criminal homicide in the death of 17-year-old Johnathan Johnson.

Johnson had just left his home on 10th Avenue North last Thursday morning to catch the bus when police said Goodner, who had apparently been waiting outside a vacant home, came up to him and shot him at close range. Johnson later died at the hospital.

Johnson was a student and basketball player at Pearl Cohn High School. Police said Goodner had last attended the school in February. The motive for the shooting was not immediately known.

Police said Goodner has been entered into the National Crime Information Center database, which would alert any law enforcement agency in the United States coming into contact with him that he is a fugitive from Nashville.

Anyone seeing Goodner or having information regarding his whereabouts is asked to contact the Emergency Communications Center at (615) 862-8600 or Crime Stoppers at (615)74-CRIME.
