Nashville Celebrates Earth Day, Remembers Boston

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Centennial Park in Nashville was packed on Saturday as people celebrated Earth Day. The celebrations were paired with reflection about the past week's events in Boston.

A booth sponsored by Schneider Electric included what it called a "wishing tree." Company officials asked people walking by to tie a ribbon to the tree and say a prayer or a wish for those affected by the Boston attacks.

"We wanted to do something small," said Lindsey Creech with Schneider Electric. "We're not asking for any donations or anything like that. Just basically people's positive thoughts and their memories of those who lost their lives in Boston."

After the Earth Day Festival the tree was going to be planted at Centennial Park as a permanent memorial.
