Firefighters Battle Blaze At West Nashville Business

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Fire caused major damage to a local business Sunday evening. Fire crews were called out to the EZ Silk Screen company in the 5600 block of Ohio Avenue  in west Nashville just after 6:30 p.m.

Fortunately, a fire station was just a few blocks away, so firefighters were able to get on the scene quickly. They did run into a few obstacles when they got there.

"They had trouble getting in because there were heavy locks on it," said George Hickey with the Nashville Fire Department. "(We) cut the locks off. There was a lot of foam in there which is highly toxic."

No one was inside the building at the time of the fire and no one was hurt. Officials said a good portion of the building was destroyed. There was some good news. A restored C-model Porsche was inside, but fire didn't get to that side of the building.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
