KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Center Yemi Makanjoula is on his way out of Tennessee after being granted a release to transfer.
Tennessee coach Cuonzo Martin announced Saturday in a university release that "Yemi and I came to a mutual agreement that it would be in his best interest to get a fresh start with a new program." Martin said Makanjuola was leaving Tennessee on good terms.
Makanjuola, a 6-foot-9 native of Nigeria, averaged 1.9 points, 2.6 rebounds and 8.0 minutes in his 2-year career at Tennessee. He averaged 1.6 points, 2.4 rebounds and 7.8 minutes in 29 appearances off the bench this season.
Makanjuola said it was a "great privilege" to play at Tennessee but added that "the best thing for me right now is to continue to pursue my dream with another school."
