HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. – The brother of one of two men killed in a construction accident last week in Hendersonville spoke exclusively to NewsChannel 5 on Monday.

A small shrine to Joel Pineda sits in what used to be his living room. The 22-year-old was killed when a wall fell on top of him at a construction site on Indian Lake Boulevard last Thursday.

Sky 5 HD captured it all from the air, showing firefighters working frantically to demolish the cinder block wall that fell. Two other men were also trapped underneath, but only one made it out alive.

Pineda's brother, who speaks Spanish, told NewsChannel 5 reporter Jennifer Reyes that he was working at a different construction site when he got a call about his brother.

"They told me to tell the guy I was working with to take me to see my brother because he had been in an accident and it was bad," Javier Pineda said through a translation.

His co-worker drove him to the construction site on Indiana Lake Boulevard, and from the ground all he could see were the firefighters.

"I got there and everything was on the ground. Someone from the fire department told me my brother was still underneath the wall but they hadn't taken him out because he was no longer alive," he continued in Spanish.

Pineda said his brother had been in Nashville for less than a year. His wife and one year old daughter are still in Mexico.

Pineda was making arrangements to send the body of his brother back to Mexico. Pineda said the construction company his brother worked for is helping out with the funeral expenses.

Solomon Builders was the general contractor on the Goodwill site.
