Murfreesboro Mom Charged With DUI With Kids In Car

Posted: Updated:

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – A Murfreesboro mom was arrested after police said she was drunk while driving the wrong way down a busy road with her two children in the car.

A citizen called police 911 around 5:15 a.m. Sunday to report a driver going the wrong way down NW Broad Street in Murfreesboro.

An officer spotted the vehicle turning its headlights off while turning onto West Northfield Boulevard. Once the car pulled over, police said the driver, identified as 28-year-old Terica Cantrell, seemed disoriented and smelled of alcohol.

Officers also found her 11-year-old son and 7-year-old daughter in the backseat.

Cantrell was taken into custody and charged with DUI. The children were unharmed and placed with relatives.

A police report said a check of her driver's license showed she had been convicted of DUI in 2004.
