NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Controversial gun control measures in Washington have been defeated, but that still hasn't stopped a run on ammunition in Tennessee that gun store owners said has been going on since the Sandy Hook school shooting.

Gun store owners said even with the collapse of the gun bill they expect the demand to continue.

At the Nashville Gun Shop, owner Demir Demirhisar said all the ammunition he has was stored out in front of the store, and even then, shelves are bare.

Since the Sandy Hook School shooting, Demirhisar said he's had to impose restrictions on ammunition sales.

"We allocate those first to pistol buying customers, so if you're buying a pistol, I'll sell you ammo as well at the same time," said Demirhisar.

Demirhisar said he hasn't sold any 9mm ammunition in 8 months.
