NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Police hope someone recognizes a man accused of sloppily placing a skimmer device on an ATM in south Nashville.

Police said surveillance caught a man installing the skimmer at the Bank of America's Hickory Plaza ATM on Nolensville Pike around 11:21 a.m. Sunday. A few minutes later, a woman drove up to the ATM, and put her card in the machine, but the skimmer device came off in her hand. The man seen earlier installing the device then walked up quickly to retrieve the device. He fled the scene on foot.

Skimmer devices are used to surreptitiously steal debit/credit card numbers and PINs. Skimmers use the information to buy items before the customer knows that he or she has been victimized.

Anyone recognizing man seen in the surveillance pictures is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.
