NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Police said they hope a reward will lead to the arrest of the home invasion suspects who broke into an 85-year-old woman's home Wednesday.

Investigators said the suspects barged into the home and stole the victim's purse, her television, and left her feeling afraid.

The home invasion happened in Councilman Walter Hunt's district. "Anytime an individual comes in the 3rd district and commits a crime we will put a reward out for them," Hunt said.

Officials said a $1000 reward is being offered to protect her and others in her neighborhood.

"So we want you to know that they may have left but we're still looking, and we won't give up until we catch them because it's not right," Hunt said.

Councilman Hunt and Metro Police said they hope their message is a strong one.

"This house was picked for some reason in the middle of the night and someone knows something," said Chief Steve Anderson with the Metro Nashville Police Department. "We will find that person sooner or later, and we would rather it be sooner."

"Unfortunately this is a time people have to be more wary about people around us," Chief Anderson said. "The people who come into our homes selling items. People who come to do repair work and yard work. We have to be suspicious."

The 3rd District Security Fund and the Fontanale Entertainment Group is putting up the money for the reward.

Fontanale Entertainment is also buying the victim a new television set.

Police don't have a detailed description of the suspects, but if you have any idea of who committed this home invasion you're asked to call 74-CRIME.
