Bomb-Sniffing Dogs Help Keep Country Music Marathon Safe

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – At the Country Music Marathon Saturday, officials were using dogs specially trained to sniff out explosives like the kind used in the Boston Marathon attacks less than two weeks ago.

Those kinds of dogs are already in use at places like Nashville International Airport, where dogs screen luggage for bombs daily.

The increased presence includes more than 150 added security officers and random bag checks.

Officials with the airport authority said if there are explosives along the marathon route, the dogs should be able to find them.

"As far as hiding it in their backpacks, I have a lot of confidence in all the dogs in the metro area to seek those items out and deactivate them," said Vince Dy, with the Metro Nashville Airport Authority.

Officials said they need to have your watchful eyes out as well along the marathon route.  If you see anything suspicious, call 615-880-1515.
