Posted: Updated:

MADISON, Tenn. – The pedestrian killed in the southbound lanes of I-65 near Briley Parkway Friday night was identified on Saturday. Police said 38-year-old Jorge Gonzales of Mayfield, Kentucky was on the inside median of the interstate attempting to cross the roadway when he was struck by a 2004 Chevy Impala.

According to police, the Impala was driven by 40-year-old Sean Davis of Bowling Green, Kentucky. Investigators said Davis was unable to avoid Gonzales, whose vehicle was found parked on the shoulder of the roadway. Gonzales was rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

A friend crossing the interstate with Gonzales left the scene before police arrived. He was found later in the night and appeared to be intoxicated. He was interviewed by police and released. Davis was not injured.
