Body Found In Motel Room Prompts Hazmat Scare

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- A man was found dead inside a local motel Saturday afternoon, and a smell inside the motel room caused serious concerns for authorities.

Metro police and other emergency responders were called out to the Congress Inn in the 2900 block of Dickerson Pike just before 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. A neighbor of the man called police fearing he might be dead. When officers arrived, they smelled something that made them think a meth lab was present.

The man's body was discovered in the room, but police confirmed there was no meth lab. Investigators said it appeared the man had been dead for an entended period of time. No foul play was suspected.

The scene was cleared just after 3:00 p.m.
