Vintage Baseball Team Prepares For Season

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A new type of Baseball league is taking shape in Middle Tennessee, but you may have a hard time finding anything "new" about it.

That's because it's a vintage league that re-enacts how baseball was played in the 1860s. The players are true to history -- from their baseball uniforms to the rules of the game.

It's something organizers hope catches on... and can grow even bigger next year.

"When I first saw it in St. Louis five years ago I fell in love with it," said Michael Thurmon, a vintage baseball player.  "It kind of takes people back to what the game was like before how it is now with professional sports."

The regular season for the Vintage Baseball association begins at noon next Sunday, May 5, at Carnton Plantation in Franklin.
