NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Police are investigating after a Clarksville man was found shot to death on a busy roadway in Madison overnight.

Police identified the victim as 24-year-old Joshua Henry. A police officer discovered Henry's body lying in the westbound lanes of Old Hickory Boulevard around 12:40 a.m. Tuesday.

Henry had shot twice in the head, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said gunfire was reportedly heard in the area a short time before Henry's body was discovered.

Detectives later learned that Henry was a convicted burglar who was furloughed from the Montgomery County Jail on January 7 to attend a treatment program in Memphis. He left the Memphis program on January 11 against staff advice, and failed to report back to the Montgomery County Jail as required.

An escape warrant was issued in Clarksville in February.

A friend reported last seeing Henry in the 9th Street area of Clarksville last week.

Madison Precinct detectives are still working to determine why Henry was in Nashville and who was with him. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (615) 74-CRIME.
