One Hospitalized After Fiery Tractor Trailer Wreck On I-65

MILLERSVILLE, Tenn. – A fiery crash sent one man to the hospital and shut down part of Interstate 65 in Sumner County for hours.

The incident was reported at 3:20 p.m. Tuesday on I-65 northbound at mile marker 101. 

The vehicle drove off the left side of the roadway, struck a guardrail and went into the median just before the overpass crossing Williamson Road. It landed on the roadway below where it burst into flames. Black smoke could be seen for miles.

Little was left of the semi cab. The driver was taken by LifeFlight to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, but his condition was unknown. 

Aerial video from Sky5 showed traffic backed up on I-65 for miles in both directions. It was cleared shortly before 8 p.m.
