Prosecutor's Son Among Four Arrested In Home Invasion

Posted: Updated:

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Police in Clarksville have arrested four suspects, including a state prosecutor's adult son, in a home invasion robbery.

John Carney, III, age 27, was taken into custody early Friday morning. Carney is the son of 19th Judicial District Attorney General John Wesley Carney Jr.

Police said he along with Gregory Lee King, Chad Thomas Seay, and Wallace Bryan broke into an apartment on Needmore Road on Thursday afternoon.

Darnell Jones, preparing to deploy to Afghanistan on Monday, said three men forced their way into his apartment, bound him with electrical tape and threatened him with a knife over money and weapons.

"I was pretty much trying to comply and do whatever I can to protect the kids. That's all I was really worried about. I wasn't worried about myself," he said Friday.

"It's kind of frustrating at the same time. You've got to do what you've got to do."

The men fled the scene after stealing money and other items from the apartment. However, Jones was able to free himself and fired shots at their vehicle as they made their getaway.

All four men were charged with robbery and kidnapping, and booked into the Montgomery County Jail on $175,000 bond.
