House Fire In Sylvan Heights Called Suspicious

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- A vacant house went up in flames early Saturday morning, and investigators were called in to determine whether it may have been arson. Fire officials said the scene was suspicious.

"There's no one here, there's no power, the thing's fully involved. That's not rocket science," said Chief George Hickey with the Nashville Fire Department.

Firefighters arrived on the scene on Trevor Drive in Sylvan Heights around 2:00 a.m. Crews found flames shooting through the roof, and fire officials believed the house had been burning at least half an hour before they got there.

Crews were able to quickly put the fire out, but the home was gutted. The floor had completely burned through. No one was hurt.
