Cousin Of Accused Teen Shooter Arrested

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The cousin of a teenager charged in the death of a 17-year-old Pearl Cohn student was arrested Saturday night.

Metro Police picked up 23-year-old Nicholas Goodner just after 7 p.m. and charged him with being an accessory after the fact.An affidavit stated that while police were searching for Eric, he was hiding out at the apartment of Nicholas' girlfriend on Oak Valley Drive.

Detectives arrested Quantrese Leyta Upkins Friday afternoon and also charged her with accessory after the fact. 

Police said they learned Eric Goodner had been staying at the apartment since at least Saturday, April 27. Upkins told detectives that Nicholas Goodner asked if Eric Goodner could stay with them.

The victim in the shooting, Johnathan Johnson, left his home on 10th Avenue North to catch the bus just minutes before he was shot around 6:45 a.m. on April 11. Witnesses told police the shooter, later identified as Eric Goodner, was sitting on steps leading to a vacant lot, then walked up to Johnson, shot him and then left on foot.

Nicholas Goodner was released after posting $10,000 bond. Police said he is a convicted felon with convictions on theft and marijuana possession.
