NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Starting on Saturday some big changes will be coming to a major artery in downtown Nashville and not everyone is happy with the plan.

On Saturday, 5th Avenue North from Broadway to James Roberston Parkway will be transitioned from a one-way street to a two-way street.

City officials said they hope the move will help alleviate congestion once the new Music City Center opens.

"We did everything we could to stop it and try to point out the reasons we thought it wasn't a good idea, but it is what it is, so at this point we're just going to move forward," explained Susan Tinney who owns an art gallery along 5th Ave.

"As far as advertising for a business you've got both ways coming at you, which means much more visibility from the traffic," said Bernie Landau who owns Sam's Clothing and Shoes.

Beginning Thursday, May 9, blocks of 5th Avenue North from Broadway to James Robertson Parkway will be closed as crews work to convert the road.
