ELIZABETHTON, Tenn. (AP) - One of three women who were found in Cleveland, Ohio, after disappearing a decade ago answered her Tennessee family's prayers with a phone call.

Johnny Berry's 27-year-old daughter, Amanda, called him Monday night at his home in Elizabethton and told him she loved him before they both started crying. WJHL-TV says Berry told his daughter he never lost hope he would hear from her again.

Police said Berry, 32-year-old Michelle Knight and Gina DeJesus, who is about 23, had apparently been held captive in a house south of downtown Cleveland since they were in their teens or early 20s. Three brothers were arrested. No charges have been filed.

Berry's uncle said he did not believe it at first when relatives in Cleveland, Ohio, told him his niece had been found.

Curtis Berry said in a telephone interview from his home in Elizabethton that the family had been told before that authorities might have found his niece.

Berry said that by the time the call came on Monday, 10 years after Berry's disappearance the night before her 17th birthday, he no longer believed that his niece would be found alive.

He said, "I'd lost hope."

Amanda Berry is one of three women who were rescued from a Cleveland home on Monday after they went missing separately about a decade ago, when they were in their teens or early 20s.

The women were discovered after Berry kicked a door, screamed for help and called 911.

In addition to Berry's father, her grandparents and cousins also live in Elizabethton, where Amanda Berry visited through the years.
