She is a native Alabamian by birth from the Muscle Shoals area. She graduated from The University of Alabama in 2010 with a double major in Broadcast Journalism and Political Science. While attending UA, she interned at WVUA-TV in Tuscaloosa for nearly 3 years, one of the few collegiate-owned television stations in the United States, and did everything from tape editing to on-air anchoring.

After graduating from UA, she joined WCSC-TV in Charleston SC, in August 2010 as a multi-platformed journalist, covering a wide range of stories. Her stories have been picked up for coverage by CNN and were featured on the CBS Evening News With Katie Couric when Hurricane Irene hit the eastern seaboard. She has covered big stories such as the tornado outbreak in Alabama in 2011 for the Raycom Network consisting of 53 stations in 16 states. She loves politics and covered the 2012 GOP Presidential Debate when it was held in Charleston. A big sports fan, she covered the PGA Championship when it was played on Kiawah Island.

When she is not busy working, she is cooking up new recipes, traveling, checking out new restaurants and spending time with her family. She is a die-hard Alabama Crimson Tide fan! You can catch Deja on NewsChannel 5 in the mornings.
