KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Former Kentucky point guard Amber Smith is joining Tennessee's coaching staff as a graduate assistant.

Tennessee announced the move Thursday, though Smith won't actually start working on Lady Vols coach Holly Warlick's staff until July 1. Smith will assist in on-campus recruiting and a variety of other general office duties.

Smith played for Kentucky from 2008-12 and helped the Wildcats reach two regional finals despite undergoing surgeries on each of her knees. She ranks sixth on Kentucky's all-time list in career games (123) and assists (425). She ranks eighth in school history in assists per game (3.455).
