NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Metro police have arrested a man who they said struck a woman with his car early Saturday morning and just kept on going. The woman was trying to cross Broadway in the heart of downtown Nashville when she was hit.

25-year-old Angela Riley of Decatur, Georgia was at the intersection of Fourth Avenue and Broadway just before 2:00 a.m. Saturday when she attempted to cross the street. Police said she was hit by a white Honda Accord, and the driver took off.

Officers caught up with the driver, 23-year-old Ryan Moy of Illinois, a few blocks away. Police said Moy smelled of alcohol, had watery eyes, and field sobriety tests indicated he was impaired.

Moy was arrested and charged with felony vehicular assault, leaving the scene of an accident and failure to render aid. He was released late Saturday morning after posting a $16,000. bond.

Riley was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with critical injuries.
