Books Donated To Tennessee Pre-K Program

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A major donation has been made to Tennessee's Pre-K students in hopes that they learn to love reading.

Delta Dental teamed up with the Governor's Books from Birth Foundation to donate more than 1,000 Imagination Library book sets to state-funded Pre-K and Head Start students.

Those books will go to classrooms all across the state, including at Bordeaux Enhanced Option Elementary School.

It's all a part of the Books from Birth Initiative, to get more kids reading at school and at home.

"We think that's probably as critical as learning to read because that bonding experience makes the child want to learn to read they see what their parent or loved one is doing and they feel the same way," said Phill Wenk from Delta Dental of Tennessee.

Tennessee is the only state that offers the Imagination Library program in all 95 counties.

To learn more about signing up for the free book program, go to Governor's Books From Births Foundation.
