CARTHAGE, Tenn. – A middle Tennessee construction company is apologizing after what one family member calls the most disrespectful Mother's Day surprise they could have ever received.

A family that grew up in Carthage visited the cemetery Sunday to pay respects to loved ones buried there, only to find a giant construction paver in the way, leaking oil onto the cemetery grounds.

Turns out, it was from the hospital renovation project next door.

Batten and Shaw, Inc., the construction company responsible for the equipment said a sub-contractor left the paver there, and they removed it as soon as they heard about the complaint.

"Wouldn't it be disrespectful to you?" Lettie Davis, one of the family members asked rhetorically.  "I mean, that's where you go to pay respect to your loved ones, and you can't even get there, to the grave.  Yes, it's disrespectful, I don't know why anybody would do it ."

The construction company said they only received one complaint and apologized for the inconvenience.
