FRANKLIN, Tenn. – Police are investigating the vandalism of several graves at a Franklin cemetery.

A worker discovered the desecration of several graves at Mount Hope Cemetery on Mt. Hope Street just before 2 p.m. Monday, and called police.

"When you come to a place like this you don't expect to see stuff like that you expect it to be immune from the outside crime and things that go on," explains groundskeeper Jim Richardson.

Franklin Police said eight memorials were vandalized between 6:30 p.m. Sunday night and 1:00 p.m. Monday.

"We're hoping that someone who was involved in this or that hears about it is gonna wanna do the right thing," adds Lt. Charles Warner from the Franklin Police Department.

The estimated overall damage is $15,000.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (615) 794-4000.
