WAYNE COUNTY, Tenn. – A family of three, including an infant, was killed in a house fire in Wayne County early Tuesday morning.

The Wayne County News said Ovilla Fire Department and Waynesboro Station 1 responded to the fire on Beech Creek Road in Clifton around 2 a.m., and were on scene until 7 a.m.

Investigators with the Wayne County Sheriff's Office said a husband, wife, and an infant died in the fire, which reportedly originated in the kitchen area of the home.

No identities were released.

Photos from the newspaper showed the home had been reduced to rubble.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation, but investigators said the home likely did not have working smoke alarms.
