Ghost Hunting Group Wants to Search Bedford County Courthouse

SHELBYVILLE, Tenn. - A middle Tennessee group is asking Bedford County Commissioners permission to search the county courthouse for ghosts -- no joke.

A group based out of Shelbyville called Dark Specter Paranormal Research has searched for evidence of ghosts in other Bedford County buildings, and now wants to search for them in the courthouse.

They're asking the County Commission to allow them to set up audio and video recording equipment overnight in the courthouse as part of that search.

The group said even though some people don't take them seriously, they want to learn more about the buildings in their hometown.

They said they have heard some unexplainable things in audio and video recordings of other investigations.

"When you hear stuff you know is not supposed to be there, you want to find out why," said Callie Head with Dark Specter Paranormal Research.  "Why this little girl is talking, or bangs that shouldn't be there."

The commission said the group may have to pay for a sheriff's deputy to follow them around in the courthouse after hours for security reasons.
