Marijuana Grow House Discovered In Franklin

Posted: Updated:

FRANKLIN, Tenn. – A Franklin couple was arrested after police discovered marijuana growing inside of their home.

Police were dispatched to the home at 1152 Hunters Chase Drive just after 9:30 Wednesday night.

"We were actually called to this house because neighbors reported hearing an explosion, followed by an argument between the residents at this house and another neighbor," said Lt. Charlie Warner.

Officials on the scene detected an overwhelming odor coming from inside Todd and Tiffany Wells' home.

"There was a very strong odor of raw marijuana in the house, and the house was in disarray," said Vice/Narcotics supervisor Don Zelaya.

When police entered the home, they discovered an elaborate marijuana growing operation which included special lighting and irrigation.

"There were three rooms, dedicated solely to the manufacture of marijuana," Zelaya said.

Franklin Narcotics, along with detectives, dismantled the operation.

"This type of crime is atypical, you don't run across these grow houses very often, and we certainly don't run across them very often in Franklin," Warner said.

Approximately 50 plants were seized, with an estimated street value in excess of $5,000.

Todd and Tiffany Wells were both charged with Manufacture/Delivery of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Both were being held on a $75,000 bond.
