Vanderbilt Breaks All-Time SEC Record With 26th League Win

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Whoever came up with the saying "You can't win 'em all" definitely did not know the Vanderbilt baseball team. The top-ranked Commodores baseball team have tried to win them all, and nearly succeeded.

Friday's loss to Alabama snapped the team's third 13-plus game winning streak of the season. That left the 'Dores one last chance to break the SEC's all-time record for conference wins.

On Saturday, Vanderbilt took out their Friday frustrations early. Vince Conde was down the line in the second with a two-run double. That put the Commodores up 3-1. Still in the second, Tony Kemp made it 4-1. Mike Yastrzemski kept it going, singling home Kemp.

The team scored seven runs in the second in all. With that Vanderbilt broke the all-time SEC record with its 26th league win.
