Meharry Medical College Announces Interim President

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Meharry Medical College has announced who will service as interim president as the current president decided to go on sabbatical.

The Board of Trustees chose A. Cherrie Epps, Ph.D to serve as interim president. Dr. Epps is Professor of Internal Medicine at Meharry Medical College and also serves as Senior Advisor to the President and Dean Emeritus of the School of Medicine.

Dr. Epps has been with Meharry for more than 15 years, and served as the interim President in 2007.

The reason current President, Dr. Wayne J. Riley, chose to go on sabbatical has not been released.

The Board said they fully support Dr. Riley's personal decision.
