Police Say Couple Had Kids With Them During Drug Deal

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A Nashville couple was arrested for using TennCare benefits to sell prescription drugs on the street, and police said they had two children with them.

Police said 32-year-old Amber Payne and 45-year-old Billy Crawford sold four oxycodone pills to an undercover police officer on Monday night. Police also found Payne had her TennCare benefits card with her, and she told police she used it to buy prescription medication and then turned around and sold the pills on street.

Police found 20 more pills on the couple. The drug transaction happened within 1,000 feet of a middle school.

Police also said they had a 3-year-old child and 17-year-old with them. Both were charged with child endangerment, TennCare Fraud, along with felony drug charges.

Payne's bond was set at $40,000, and Crawford's was set at $30,000.
