More Thunderstorms Expected For Wednesday

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - More storms are expected to move across Middle Tennessee Wednesday after a round of storms hit the area Tuesday.

The Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Davidson and Cheatham Counties was issued Tuesday night and expired at 10:30 p.m.

Meteorologists detected a severe thunderstorm capable of producing quarter-size hail and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph.

The storm was moving east at 35 mph, and has weakened below severe limits, no longer posing a threat.

After a couple of rounds of storms moved through the mid-state Tuesday morning and afternoon, more storms are expected Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.

Afternoon storms brought severe thunderstorm warnings and advisories for parts of the mid-state, but no tornado warnings.

The same storm system that brought devastation to central Oklahoma was expected to weaken before moving into Tennessee.

The National Weather Service updated its guidance to include all but the mountains of East Tennessee in an area that has a slight risk of severe thunderstorms through Wednesday morning.

Meteorologist Brittney Coleman with the NWS office in Nashville said high wind and hail are the major threats with the storm system. The slight probability of severe storms was extended Tuesday through the Tennessee River Valley.
