Facebook Posting Prompts Fears About "Robbery"

Posted: Updated:

MT. JULIET, Tenn. -- Sometimes what you say in a text message or on Facebook can be open to interpretation and can even cause some serious confusion.

That's what happened in Mt. Juliet on Saturday. Around 5:30 p.m. police in the Wilson County town started getting inquiries about a robbery at the Regal Providence movie theater.

Concerned residents said they saw a Facebook posting from a woman saying her husband had been robbed at the theater. Turns out, the man had texted his wife saying he had been robbed, but he was speaking figuratively and was referring to how much money he spent at the theater.

Police confirmed no one was actually "robbed" and there is no history of crime at that theater.
