Four Teens Rescued At Nice Mill Dam

Posted: Updated:

RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. – Four teens were rescued from rising waters near Nice Mill Dam in Rutherford County on Wednesday night.

The teenagers had set up camp after tubing the river rapids when the water quickly began to rise. They decided that Cameron Skees was the best swimmer, so he swam to shore and called for help.

"If we had started to panic we probably wouldn't have thought to call these guys, and one of us wouldn't have swam over there, and nobody would have known, nobody would have known," Skees said.

Rescue crews said the water levels got dangerous quickly-- even causing the first rescue crew to capsize their boat.

"Nighttime brings a different type of rescue, a dangerous rescue. Add the swift water, it's a very dangerous rescue," said first responder Chris Clark.

All of the victims were treated on scene and released. No one was seriously hurt.
