Man Charged With Attempted Burglary, Assault

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A man was arrested Wednesday night after police said he tried to force his way into a woman's home in east Nashville.

A woman called 911 around 8 p.m. Wednesday to report a man had tried to get through her window into her garage.

The victim walked into her backyard after the man entered her garage and told him to leave her property. Police said the man grabbed her hair and pushed her head down before she managed to get away and run into her home. That's when he began ramming her door with his shoulder.

An officer who was nearby on an unrelated call heard the call go out and quickly responded. He ran into the man in the woman's backyard, but the man refused his commands to surrender. A second officer responded and was able to help take the man into custody.

23-year-old Keandre Burkley was charged with burglary, assault, and resisting arrest. Police said he had been convicted of attempted armed robbery in 2010.
