Driver In Deadly Crash Identified

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The driver killed in an early morning crash near downtown Nashville has been identified. 31-year-old Christopher Sexton crashed into a building on 8th Avenue South around 5:15 a.m. on Saturday, according to police.

Sexton was driving a 1999 Toyota 4-Runner south on 8th Avenue when his vehicle left the roadway and collided with the building. He was pronounced dead at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. 

His passenger, 33-year-old Beth Robertson was critically injured in the crash. She was also taken to Vanderbilt.

There was no evidence of alcohol at the scene of the crash. Police are still trying to determine what caused the SUV to leave the road.
